Looking at WordPress Theme Options
Re-exploring the wonderful world of WordPress theme options. I wanted to find a method that would make adding WordPress theme options easier than it already was. Since there wasn’t anything online that fit my needed I created a way. A few thoughts about the process and a few of the features of the soon to be released code.
WordPress XML Client Update
An XML Client Update plugin for WordPress. This plugin allows me to keep in touch with my clients or anyone using my custom themes, plugins and/or widgets via their WordPress dashboard. The only solution I could think of to notify people of updates without submitting the theme, plugin or widget to the appropriate Official WordPress directory.
join.me – Online Screen Sharing and Meetings
join.me is an excellent tool that allows you to meet with your clients in a somewhat face-to-face manner. Share your screen, have on online meeting, and traing your clients as if you were right there beside them.
Excluding Pages, Posts and Categories from WordPress Search
There may be a time when you find that excluding certain pages, posts or categories from your WordPress search results is needed. The following article will explain how you can do just that.
Removing the WordPress Version
Make use of ‘hooks’ in your themes function.php file to remove the WordPress version number from being displayed anywhere on your website. See the different methods and learn which is the best to use.
Farewell IE6
If Microsoft is going to ask the world to help get IE6 users to update their browsers then I’m going to do my part in this as well. Being that it’s almost 10 years old already, IE6 is now dead to me. I will no longer be supporting IE6 unless a client directly asks me to.
Van Asten Tree Nursery
The Van Asten Tree Nursery was looking for a website that would allow them to take control their site’s content. They wanted something easy to use so that changes to the text could be done quickly without needing to learn how to manage the code behind the scene. A small list of requirements meant a lot of freedom with a very quick turn around time.
Aldo’s Pizza and Pub
Aldo’s Pizza and Pub needed a complete overhaul to their website and requested that it be set up so they could handle the content. The custom WordPress theme was based off their logo and background from their old site but now way more flexible. Both widget ready and containing options making updating the site a lot easier, I think the client was rather please to take back control of their website.
Joanie’s Cherished Creations
Joanie was looking for a web banner that could be used at her Etsy shop as well as elsewhere online. The design needed to reflect her crafting style which was a mixture of scrapbooking, card making and expanding into home décor.
Pat & Bal’s Fishing Show
The Pat & Bal’s Fishing Show website was long overdue for an update – for both design and usability. Starting from scratch with a new design that was converted to a custom WordPress theme, the site is back online and ready for content.
